"Cockamamie" is an interesting adjective meaning crazy. "To
shoot par" is a golfing term, which here means to be doing OK.

it’s the best thing that could have happened to you.
In this case, to look at a situation "in a screwed up way"
is to see it from a very different or unusual point of view.
